This season, Book-It Repertory Theatre is proud to return to its short story roots with the world-premiere adaptation of Ellen Gilchrist's bestseller Rhoda: A Life in Stories. Set in the 1940's through the 1990's, Rhoda: A Life in Stories chronicles the life of the indomitable Rhoda Katherine Manning. From age ten as a precocious, rebellious kid with a strong sense of independence and a full-blown movie star complex, we follow Rhoda through decades of desire, motherhood, and addiction, to her final destination as an accomplished and introspective writer. As Rhoda moves through life-- hurting and getting hurt--, she learns how to keep her own sense of self (and a great sense of humor!) without letting loss and hardship destroy her. Adapting more than ten of Gilchrist's 23 original stories into a single evening of theatre, this daring production is guaranteed to make for an insightful and fun night out. Join us for the ride!

Winner of the National Book Award for Fiction

RHODA is passion, energy, light. If germs get inside her, her blood boils up and devours them. If she loses a pearl ring, it's proof there's no God. If it's necessary to drop an atomic bomb to save Western civilization, she's ready."

- Ellen Gilchrist, Rhoda: A Life in Stories
