About the Novel Workshop Series (NWS): Every Book-It show is a world-premiere adaptation of a work of fiction. Co-Artistic Director Myra Platt explains, "Bringing a novel adaptation to the stage cannot be rushed, and an early reading of a fledgling adaptation with a discerning audience can shortcut development time and help steer a new work through the process—it can also tell the company what won't work as a Book-It Style™ production." This year's NWS is a collaboration with the UW School of Drama. The readings will take place at the Glenn Hughes Penthouse Theatre on the Seattle UW Campus (NE 45th St. & 17th Ave. NE, north end of campus). MFA acting students will perform in these readings that will be developed through intensive workshops and master classes taught by book-It artists. The inaugural year's reading series led to Jim Lynch's Border Songs and Ivan Doig's Prairie Nocturne being selected for full production on Book-It's main stage. Explore our future with us!
