“One of the best comedies of the year."

The Stranger

"[Brandon Whitehead's] Reilly appears effortless, and is truly one of the great acting jobs I've seen in decades of watching."Seattle Weekly

Toole’s Pulitzer Prize-winning cult classic is a masterpiece of the southern literary canon. In this grand tragicomic farce our hero—of epic proportions—is the slothful Ignatius J. Reilly: writer, cultural critic, bastion of morality, advocate for the disenfranchised, eater of hot dogs, and nemesis of industry. His grudging ventures into the working world to support his despairing mother bring him face to face with a kaleidoscopic cast of Big Easy characters in this hilarious comedy.

Angelo Mancuso questions Ignatius J. Reilley  (David Goldstein and Brandon Whitehead). Ignatius and Mrs. Reilley visit the Night of Joy bar in A Confederacy of Dunces. Photos by John Ulman.

"Hollywood legend has it that the film adaptation of A Confederacy of Dunces is cursed...I am convinced that God only threw those disasters at Hollywood because He was waiting for [Brandon] Whitehead to play the part"
The Stranger
